DISPERBYK® is a wetting and dispersing additive for solvent-borne and aqueous systems. It is a solution of an alkylolammonium salt of a lower molecular weight polycarboxylic acid polymer. This product is suitable for both aqueous and solvent-borne systems. When added to the millbase of a white paint, it improves color acceptance and color development. In solvent-based and aqueous coatings DISPERBYK® prevents hard sedimentation. Furthermore, DISPERBYK® improves the effectiveness of pyrogenic silica. The water content may cause problems in epoxy and polyurethane systems.
Byk has an established history of innovation such as being the first additive manufacturer to begin using Controlled Polymerization Technology (CPT), launching the first rheology-modified wax emulsion, and being one of the first companies to use nanotechnology for improving Coatings properties. Byk invests approximately 7.5% of its earnings in R&D—three times more than the industry average.
