Tetraethylene Glycol Dimethyl Ether

Tetraethylene Glycol Dimethyl Ether is an inert reaction medium and aprotic solvent. It is a neutral, colorless liquid with low volatility and a very faint odor. It is miscible in any ratio with water and most organic solvents. This product is an inert aprotic solvent with high solvency, film forming and coalescing ability. It is used as a cosolvent to reduce the viscosity of prepolymers.

This product is also used to produce binders for acrylic paints e.g. for automotive applications. Using Tetraglyme in coating formulations allows for reducing or avoiding other components like leveling agents and rheology modifiers.
