This yields polymers bearing pendant trimethoxysilyl groups, which can serve several different purposes. These groups can render a system cross-linkable upon exposure to water such as atmospheric moisture or steam. The pendant trimethoxysilyl groups can also improve the physical properties of composites by enabling the organic polymer to bond directly with the inorganic filler.
