Dipropylene Glycol Dimethyl Ether is not listed as a Hazardous Air Pollutant, has low toxicity, and offers an alternative to solvents being phased out as a result of the Clean Air Act. Due to its chemical stability and the absence of reactive groups, DPGDME can also be used as an inert reaction medium, e. g. for reactions with alkali and alkaline-earth metals (Grignard reactions), polymerizations etc. Dipropylene Glycol Dimethyl Ether is used in solvent-based coatings and water-based polyurethane/ isocyanate coating systems.
