Alpha hydroxyacids are known for two main actions in skin treatment: moisturizing and keratolysis (peeling). As a moisturizer at low concentrations, 1% to 3%, gives elasticity to upper layers of dermis and helps to maintain the characteristic softness of hydrated skin. It is particularly recommended for dry and scaly skin treatment. As a keratolytic agent, the exfoliation activity is due to the action of Alpha hydroxyacids on intercellular cement that facilitates the detachment of dead cells and enhances the appearance of lower layers of the skin and the disappearance of wrinkles. For this effect the percentage of use is estimated in 5% to 10% with the warning about that it may cause irritation. We recommend to accompany this product with others that reduce the irritation, as our Nutrex PV. view less
