Ashland™ 981 Carbomer is a cross-linked polymer of acrylic acid that is a useful thickening, stabilizing, and suspending agent. It is used in a wide variety of cosmetic and toiletry applications. This product gives excellent emulsion and suspension stability at low viscosities, including some ionic systems. It is a more efficient thickener than Ashland™ 980 carbomer at low concentrations and provides long flow characteristics.
