MONTANOV™ 82 is a O/W alkylpolyglucoside emulsifier from natural origin, for spray to thick cream textures with a rich feel. As a promoter of liquid crystals which biomimic the lipid bilayer of cellular membrane, it helps to stabilize the emulsion, provides the restructuring effect (reduction of TEWL) and the moisturizing effect. Has good resistance to cold (-25C) and strong resistance to electrolytes. It creates a fungistatic environment that prevents growth of microorganisms. It is primarily effective against yeast & mold and can be combined with a bacteria control agent, like Lexgard Natural GC88 MB (Glyceryl Caprylate) or Lexgard® O (Caprylyl Glycol) for broad spectrum protection. Spectrastat™ PG is effective over a broad pH range from pH 4 - 8 with a typical use level of 1.0 - 2.0% (w/w). Spectrastat™ PG is cold processable and water soluble and can be used in emulsion, anhydrous, and surfactant systems. These include creams, lotions, shower gels, and color cosmetics. It may be added to the water phase, at ambient or hot temperatures, or may be added post-emulsification of O/W emulsions. view less
