Dipropylene Glycol Dimethyl Ether (DPGDME) is a colorless liquid with a mild, pleasant odor. It is completely miscible with most common organic solvents. However, it has limited solubility in water. DPGDME has no hydroxyl functionality. It is an inert, aprotic solvent and can be used in proton sensitive systems. Dipropylene Glycol Dimethyl Ether is not listed as a Hazardous Air Pollutant, has low toxicity, and offers an alternative to solvents being phased out as a result of the Clean Air Act. Due to its chemical stability and the absence of reactive groups, DPGDME can also be used as an inert reaction medium, e. g. for reactions with alkali and alkaline-earth metals (Grignard reactions), polymerizations etc.
Dipropylene Glycol Dimethyl Ether is used in solvent-based coatings and water-based polyurethane/ isocyanate coating systems. It is used as environmentally friendly substitute for NMP (N-methyl pyrrolidone) e.g as as coalescing agent in water based polyurethane dispersions. Dipropylene glycol dimethyl ether is also used as a solvent for wood and furniture coatings as well as a solvent for hardeners.

Find the link to your List page in the user menu.
All Tags have been converted to separate Lists, and your bookmarked items have been saved to a "Bookmarks" List.
When you click the Add to List button, a dropdown of your existing Lists appears. Click the List name to which you want to add this product or formula.
You can also create a new List. Simply click "Create a New List" and enter a name.
When you define a new List, the current item is automatically added to it. You can add a product or formula to as many Lists as you need.
Easily see which Lists this item appears in, and quickly go to that List from the links that appear on the page.
