The safety assessment of cosmetic products has been anchored in European cosmetics legislation by Directive 93/35/EEC (6th amendment) to the Cosmetics Directive 76/768/EEC. The provisions of Article 7a of this Directive are an important instrument for protection from health impairments following the use of cosmetic products.
