The wax is very unique as it has no double bounds and is rather a naturally “hydrogenated” oil but solid. Due to its chemical structure (iodine value < 2) it is very stable against oxidation. Very untypical is the low melting point while having an exceptional hardness. This combination leads to an outstanding spreadability. Kahlwax 6279L reduces stickiness of O/W emulsions and oleogels, stabilizes stick preparations, and has excellent properties for hair styling products. Kahlwax 6290 is a pale Berry wax derived from berry fruit peels of the Rhus Verniciflua tree native in China. Kahlwax 6290 consists of a high amount of glycerol ester of C16-18 fatty acid. Because a significant part of it melts at temperatures < 30 °C, Kahlwax 6290 feels very silky and soft, comparable to a classic emollient. In addition, Kahlwax 6290 is producing very soft textures and improves significantly the sensory characteristics of O/W emulsions. Additionally it is an excellent additive for oleogels, suitable for lip gloss formulations and mascaras, and works as an outstanding pay-off enhancer in lipsticks.
