Lexemul® 515 MB is a 100% biobased, neutral and non self-emulsifying grade of glyceryl monostearate. Lexemul® 515 MB can be used as a secondary or auxiliary emulsifier, emulsion stabilizer, opacifier, amphiphilic bodying agent and emollient in nonionic, anionic or cationic w/o and o/w emulsions, and surfactant systems. Lexemul® 515 MB can also be used as a polar emollient in non-aqueous systems. Lexemul® 515 MB in conjunction with a primary emulsifier will produce emulsions of a rich, smooth texture that is typical of the self-emulsifying Lexemul® T, Lexemul® AR and Lexemul® AS emulsifiers. Lexgard® Natural MB is an all-natural multi-functional ingredient system for self-preserving cosmetics. Lexgard® Natural MB is composed of high purity C8 monoesters and undecylenic acid. The former is well established for its biostatic activity against bacteria and yeast. The latter provides moderate fungistatic activity. Lexgard® Natural MB is primarily effective against bacteria & yeast with some efficacy against mold. For added broad spectrum protection it can be combined with a strong yeast & mold control agent, like Spectrastat™ CHA (Caprylhydroxamic Acid). Lexgard® Natural MB is an emollient, co-emulsifier and skin re-fatting agent which is especially recommended for use in W/O or O/W emulsion systems such as skin care creams and lotions. It is recommended that Lexgard® Natural MB be used at concentrations of 1.0-1.5% w/w and is stable and effective at pH 4.0 - 8.0. It should be incorporated in the water phase during cool down or during the emulsification process.
