The quaternization of the polypeptides of collagen certainly leads to the combination of the properties furnished by both structures. Thus it has been found that the use of this compound provides capillary and dermal protection due to the polypeptide fractions, together with the reduction of aggressivity in mixtures with the traditional cationic compounds. With regards to the cationic behavior this has been enhanced because of the transformation in quaternized nitrogen of an important fraction of the ammine nitrogen of the polypeptides. Therefore better properties of substantivity on hair, with more fullness, more luster and softness, better untangling in dry and in wet, are obtained, whereas the effects on skin, due to the substantivity, provides smoothness and lubricity.
