Pyrogenic Silica RS-50

Pyrogenic Silica RS-50 is a hydrophilic, 100% recycled synthetic, fully X-ray amorphous silica, produced by flame hydrolysis. It is a white, submicron-sized powder of great purity and a surface area of 20 to 50 m2/g. RS-50 is effective as a thixotropic rheology control and thickening agent in many polymer systems, such as unsaturated polyesters, adhesives, sealants, coatings, printing inks, etc. It can be used as active strengthening filler in silicone-elastomers and elastomers. Pyrogenic Silica RS-50 has a specific gravity of 2.2, a bulk density of 23 to 25 lb/ft3 vibrated, oil absorption of 65 g/100g, a pH of 6.0 (4% dispersion in water), a refractive index of 1.46, and a softening temperature of ~1600 °C.

Company

Vitro Minerals, headquartered in Conyers, Georgia, has developed innovative glass products for use as crystalline silica free blasting media, functional fillers for the coatings, plastics, and sealants industries, and mineral admixtures for concrete. Vitro Minerals LA Glass grades offer excellent consistency in particle size, brightness, and hegman grind. LA Glass products have very high brightness and corrosion resistance rendering them inert in both solvent & water based coating systems. In addition to chemical inertness, LA Glass offers excellent abrasión resistance and low oil absorptions.
