Bubond® 396

Bubond® 396 is an organic stain-blocking agent in liquid form. It is used in coatings that are applied over staining woods, such as cedar and redwood. By preventing wood extractives from bleeding through the paint films, Bubond® 396 reduces discoloration commonly known as “tannin staining.” Bubond® 396 can be post added to the coating or added in the letdown. In formulations that are pH-adjusted to the alkaline side, Bubond® 396 should preferably be added prior to neutralization since the product is acidic in nature and could cause pH shock if added directly into an alkaline system.
