It is partly soluble in water and is soluble in alcohol, ether, acetone, benzene and chloroform. It is used as an artificial flavoring agent. Synthetic Vanillin (2063) is widely used in food applications such as chocolate, ice-creams, soft drinks, confectionery, pastry/ baking or sugars containing vanilla.
