ETHOXCARE® OD-20 is a unique nonionic surfactant which is the polyethylene glycol ether of octyldodecanol with an average of 20 repeating units of ethylene glycol. The octyldodecanol is a Guerbet alcohol that has a 12 carbon chain as its backbone with an 8-carbon branch. The 12 carbon backbone provides for good surfactancy while the 8 carbon branching increases stability, lowers the melt point, improves ease of handling and enhances aesthetics over ceteth, steareth, and other similar materials. ETHOXCARE® OD-20 is an emulsifier and solubilizer but has the aesthetics of an emollient ester with a buttery soft feel. It is a soft white solid with little or no odor.
