Bayhydrol® UV 2317

Documents

Bayhydrol® UV 2317 is a urethane acrylate dispersion that can be used in the formulation of physically drying aqueous UV-curing coatings. This is a clear lacquer that is characterized by its good reemulsification properties and high wet film transparency. This product has a non-volatile content (1g / 1h / 125°C, convection oven) of 35.5-37.5, a flow time at 23°C, (4 mm cup) of 15-80, and a pH-value of 6.8-8.5. Bayhydrol® UV 2317 is used in the formulation of aqueous UV-curing coatings, especially for application on wood/wood materials. Generally speaking, the coated surfaces can be sanded before UV curing. Additions of 1-2.5% by wt. photoinitiator, calculated on the solid binder, have proved suitable for initiating the curing reaction. The viscosity is adjusted by the addition of polyurethane thickeners. If antifoams are used, they should be thinned in solvents, especially if application is by curtain coating.
