Candy is an inevitable part of that celebration in many locations, including the United States and Canada, where a sugary, tri-colored confection called candy corn is a favorite. And though many claim that the sweet treat is one that people either love or hate, with nothing in between, it’s at the top of the list of favorite Halloween candies in the U.S. in 2015. - According to The Daily Meal, candy corn was introduced by Goelitz Confectionary Company in 1898. The company, which is now called Jelly Belly, still uses the same recipe, including sugar, fondant, corn syrup, vanilla flavor, marshmallow creme and food coloring.
- Mashable’s article on a recent Influenster survey says the states of Oregon, Wyoming, Texas, Tennessee and South Carolina in the U.S. chose candy corn as the confection of choice for Halloween.
- Candy corn made news in space last year when astronaut Don Pettit used it to do a demonstration of how surfactants work. Watch the video on FWX.
