ITAMID D is a rather fluid polyaminoamide resin which is used in combination with epoxy resins, mainly liquid ones, to obtain hardening products even at room temperature and which are used above all in the field of reactive adhesives, solvent free coatings with high resistance to chemical agents in general and with excellent properties of toughness, flexibility and adhesion to the most different surfaces and good thermal resistance. ITAMID D, which is normally used neat, however dissolves readily in organic solvents such as alcohol, aromatic hydrocarbons, glycol ethers and their mixtures. The low viscosity of ITAMID D when used in combination with liquid epoxy resins gives rise to products which can be applied even by processes of spatula, spraying and pouring. When ITAMID D is used in combination with an epoxy resin with a epoxy equivalent weight of around 190, depending on the applications the ratio between epoxy and polyamine may vary between 65/35 and 75/25 with pot-lives varying between 110 and 130 minutes. It must however be keep in mind that a higher percentage of polyamine resin increases flexibility but reduces the resistance to chemical agents.
