Manganese based driers promote both surface and through-dry in oxidatively cured binder systems and are usually used in combination with other primary driers like e.g. Borchi® OXY - Coat or Borchers® Deca Cobalt. Manganese is mainly used in pigmented coating systems and primers because its inherent color may cause discoloration in clear or light colored coatings. High atmospheric humidity severely inhibits the drying effect of manganese based driers.
