Lexgard® HPO combines a humectant and preservative into one system that provides preservation of cosmetic formulations. It can be used as an alternative to parabens or other preservatives that may be undesirable. Lexgard® HPO is a multi-functional emollient, moisturizer and preservative which can be used in skin care creams and lotions, or in surfactant-based products such as shower gels, facial cleansers, and shampoos. It is recommended that Lexgard® HPO be used at concentrations of 0.7 - 1.0% w/w. When Lexgard® HPO is used in emulsions, it is recommended that it be incorporated into the water phase. Lexgard® HPO is also soluble in oils and may be used in anhydrous formulas. Lexgard® HPO (Caprylyl Glycol (and) Pheoxyethanol (and) Hexylene Glycol) is listed in the China FDA IECIC inventory. view less

It creates a fungistatic environment that prevents growth of microorganisms. It is primarily effective against yeast & mold and can be combined with a bacteria control agent, like Lexgard Natural GC88 MB (Glyceryl Caprylate) or Lexgard® O (Caprylyl Glycol) for broad spectrum protection. Spectrastat™ PG is effective over a broad pH range from pH 4 - 8 with a typical use level of 1.0 - 2.0% (w/w). Spectrastat™ PG is cold processable and water soluble and can be used in emulsion, anhydrous, and surfactant systems. These include creams, lotions, shower gels, and color cosmetics. It may be added to the water phase, at ambient or hot temperatures, or may be added post-emulsification of O/W emulsions. view less
