As a moisturizer at low concentrations, 1% to 3%, gives elasticity to upper layers of dermis and helps to maintain the characteristic softness of hydrated skin. It is particularly recommended for dry and scaly skin treatment.
As a keratolytic agent, the exfoliation activity is due to the action of Alpha hydroxyacids on intercellular cement that facilitates the detachment of dead cells and enhances the appearance of lower layers of the skin and the disappearance of wrinkles. For this effect the percentage of use is estimated in 5% to 10% with the warning about that it may cause irritation.

Spectrastat™ MHG Natural MB is a 100% natural complete broad spectrum system for self-preserving cosmetic and personal care products. Spectrastat™ MHG Natural MB is ideal for personal care products as an alternative to parabens, phenoxyethanol, MIT or other preservatives that may be undesirable. The novel blend of Caprylhydroxamic Acid with Methylheptylglycerin, a non-silicone anti-soaping agent, creates a ready-to-use combination that effectively controls bacteria, yeast, and mold over a broad pH range from pH 4 – 8 with a typical use level of 0.5 – 2.0% (w/w). Spectrastat™ PG is a multi-functional agent that provides antimicrobial control in cosmetic and personal care products. Spectrastat™ PG contains no biocides or traditional preservatives. It creates a fungistatic environment that prevents growth of microorganisms. It is primarily effective against yeast & mold and can be combined with a bacteria control agent, like Lexgard Natural GC88 MB (Glyceryl Caprylate) or Lexgard® O (Caprylyl Glycol) for broad spectrum protection. Spectrastat™ PG is effective over a broad pH range from pH 4 - 8 with a typical use level of 1.0 - 2.0% (w/w). Spectrastat™ PG is cold processable and water soluble and can be used in emulsion, anhydrous, and surfactant systems. These include creams, lotions, shower gels, and color cosmetics. It may be added to the water phase, at ambient or hot temperatures, or may be added post-emulsification of O/W emulsions. view less
