Castorwax® is a solid wax, vegetable derived (MP-70 m.p. ~75°C; MP-80 m.p. ~80°C). Odorless, tasteless wax compatible with most other natural waxes. In the oil phase of O/W emulsions, it functions as an internal phase thickener and emollient. It can provide an occlusive barrier and reduces transepidermal water loss, hydrates the skin through humectancy via hydrogen bonding between water and the material’s hydroxyl groups.
