The seeds of this plant are used for bruises, grazes, wounds, ulcers. Its leaves can be used for ailments of the heart, stomach, fevers. The Sunflower seed has an average yield of 47% of a clear oil, light golden yellow in color, with a mild and characteristic odor. Sunflower flower contains quercimerythrine, a considerable amount of choline and betaine, solantic acid. In the oil, linolein and olein predominate and smaller amounts of palmitin, stearin, arachine and lignocerin. view less
