ETHOXCARE® GMS-SE is self-emulsifying glyceryl stearate. It is a mixture of the monoester of glycerin and stearic acid and potassium stearate. ETHOXCARE® GMS-SE is an emollient, moisturizer, viscosity builder, opacifier, surfactant, and nonionic emulsifier and co-emulsifier for oil-in-water and water-in-oil emulsions. It has an HLB of about 3-7 and can be combined with other emulsifiers to achieve any required HLB. ETHOXCARE® GMS-SE is useful in a wide range of personal care products and cosmetics in the pH range of about 5-9. In hair and skin care products, it provides lubricity. In skin care products, ETHOXCARE® GMS-SE provides occlusive properties which help prevent moisture loss and promote skin hydration while leaving the skin feeling soft and smooth. view less

It emulsifies mineral oil, esters, soybean oil, D-limonene, and other hydrocarbons at room temperature with no special mixing. ETHOXCARE® GPHS is effective at levels less than 1% and incorporates aqueous phases at more than 90%. Emulsion viscosities that can be achieved range from low/water thin to very high/free standing solids. ETHOXCARE® GPHS forms elegant stable emulsions that rub into the skin with ease and leave behind little feel, independent of oil used. Fragrance, color, and preservative can be added at any time since no heat or special mixing is needed.
