Polyester-Melamine Coil Coating Primer (Formulation #2.1)

Polyester-Melamine Coil Coating Primer (Formulation #2.1) is a guideline formulation offered to highlight the anti-corrosive and adhesion performance of SHIELDEX® C 303, a high performance non toxic heavy metal free, anti-corrosive pigment specially designed to replace Strontium Chromate in coil coating primers.

Dynapol L205 and Dynapol L208 are high molecular weight polyester resins widely used in coil coating primer applications for both building and domestic appliance applications. Cymel 350 is a typical melamine based crosslinker. The cure reponse within this formulation was controlled by the use of Silane A187 (Silane Ester), Epoxy blocked Phosphoric acid (co-catalyst), EDBSA (sulphonic acid co-catalyst) and Halox 650 (Dicarboxylic acid). These components prevent the interaction of SHIELDEX® anti-corrosive pigments with the acid catalysts and any acidic functionality on the resins, thus ensuring maximum cure response.
