FD‐NPZ is a Lewis acid and can be a good catalyst for most reactions such as esterification, transesterification, condensation reactions etc. It can also be used as Ziegler Natta catalyst in PP and PE polymerization. Due to its high reactivity, FD‐NPZ can react with lower reactivity functional group of binder resin, such as –OH and –COOH on substrate and coating, At high temperature (>350oC) FD‐NPZ decomposes to form Zirconium dioxide (ZrO2) and forms thin layer on different substrates (glass, mineral, pigment, metal) and surface hardness and surface activity are improved. The chemical properties of FD‐NPZ is very similar to that of tetra‐n‐propyl titanate, however, zirconate does not cause yellowing problem. view less
