Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract contains a large amount of salicylic acid, which has anti-inflammatory effects similar to aspirin when applied externally and is used to treat acne and other skin irritation. In a patent titled 'Use of Salicylin as an Antiirritant Compound in Cosmetics and Topical Skin Preparations', Salicylic acid is considered an effective ingredient in the control and prevention of so-called 'stinging pain'. The use of salicylic acid can treat atopic dermatitis, and type I and IV skin irritation, and the use of salicylic acid can increase the stimulation threshold of sensitive skin. The aspirin-like properties of salicylic acid are also considered to be used to eliminate diaper rash, herpetic inflammation, and sunburn, with a concentration of about 5%.
