Willamette

Willamette is named after the valley of the same name in northeast Oregon. Willamette is a daughter of Fuggles and was developed as part of the USDA breeding programme in Oregon. It was released as a US aroma variety in 1976. This cultivar is characterised by its low alpha content and a mild aroma that has a fundamental similarity to that of Fuggles. Although Willamette is more difficult to grow than most hop varieties, it is widely planted in all US growing regions.
