Shin-Etsu Silicones

Visit Company Website
Shin-Etsu Silicones produces silicones and silicone products for the Paints and Coating Industry. They provide first rate silicone compounds to develop and increase the reliability and all around performance of a product. One such product type, Silane Coupling Agents, are used as a mediator that helps improve and support bonds between inorganic and organic materials. This allows for surface modification and resin modification to take place. It also aids in the increased adhesion and the enhancement of the mechanical durability of composite materials.

KBM-603 Shin-Etsu Silicones of America KBM-603, N-(2-aminoethyl)-3-aminopropyl-trimethoxysilane), is a diamino-functional silane with applications in composites, coatings, adhesives, and sealants. KBM-603 has been used in a wide variety of advanced thermosets, thermoplastics, and elastomers including acrylics, cellulosics, epoxies, phenolics, melamines, polyurethanes, polyureas, polycarbonates, polyesters, polyethers, nylons, polystyrenes, PVC, PET, PBT, ABS, and silicones. KBM-603 is used extensively to promote strong and durable adhesion to materials such as glass, ceramics, and metals. This adhesion is a result of the silane’s ability to create exceptionally strong interactions (such as covalent bonding and hydrogen bonding) between the inorganic and organic components of a system. KBM-603 is often used to improve flexural, compressive, and interlaminar shear strengths as well as adhesion...view more KBM-603, N-(2-aminoethyl)-3-aminopropyl-trimethoxysilane), is a diamino-functional silane with applications in composites, coatings, adhesives, and sealants. This coupling agent improves the mechanical strength, water resistance, and heat resistance of complex materials containing inorganic fillers and organic polymers. It is suitable for a wide variety of heat curable systems like epoxies, phenolics, melamines, and urethanes, as well as thermoplastic elastomers like polycarbonate, nylon, polystyrene, PET, PBT, and ABS. Epoxysilanes have replaced aminosilanes in several applications, resulting in significantly improved performance. KBM-303 works well with most of the common inorganic substrates such as glass, silica, mica, alumina, clay, and talc, as well as most metals, such as iron and copper. view less
